Between two sizes, take the larger — the sash ties in at the back to take up the slack, and the back hem is meant to be long.

• How much longer is the back than the front? Roughly 12 inches at every size — 25.6" front to 37.4" back in a size 6, 33.5" to 45.3" in a size 16. The back brushes the floor behind her while the front clears her knees.
